(Spears, Adams, Lopez, Gonzalez)
Album: Britney Jean
The closer to the standard edition of Britney Jean is a surprisingly strong synthpop ballad. “Don’t Cry” starts with a spaghetti Western-esque whistle over a guitar strum. As with all of the Britney Jean tracks, Spears has co-writing credits and delivers one of her strongest vocal offerings on the albums. It is a refreshing change of pace from some of the album’s bland and overproduced EDM tracks. Unfortunately, because the Britney Jean era was one of Spears’s shortest, this remains one of her most overlooked songs.
